Elly Belle is a queer and trans storyteller from Brooklyn, raised within the cultural context of and by people from the global majority, particularly family from Lebanon, Palestine, and India—which greatly shapes and informs how they engage with the world. They specialize in filmmaking, poetry, music, and comms strategy and social media. As a journalist and essayist, they have regularly written and reported for outlets including Teen Vogue, Prism, SELF Magazine, XTRA, and others. Elly does not dream of labor and considers themself first and foremost a collaborator and community member devoted to passing on care wherever possible. They take puns, friendship, collaboration with nature, and mycelium networks very seriously. Wicked is one of their favorite musicals of all time and impacted them greatly on their queer journey along the brick road. In their personal life, they are a seasoned community organizer who has worked across varying issue areas including COVID safety, disability justice, mental health, poetry and the arts, and more. In all avenues of life, Elly is always foraging for faith and hopemongering. Their cat's name is, appropriately, Elphaba.

JS (she/they)

Resident Excel Fanatic

JS is a queer, POC business analyst based in Chicago. She specializes in consumer insights and sales analytics, bringing a wealth of experience from their work across a diverse array of organizations. JS values flexibility, creativity, and is a pro at data scrappiness: simply put, they will (positively) make you a mountain out of a molehill, piecing even the most sparse of data into actionable recommendations. JS is there to help you assess the market, understand key sales drivers, identify opportunities, and every need in between. JS’s entrypoint to Oz was their skillful portrayal of Princess Ozma,* one of the first trans characters in children’s literature.

David Fairbanks (they/he)

SEO Grunkle Stan

David's been in the SEO world long enough to know better: real sustainable successes come from sincere, good-faith efforts to deliver content people want. Anything else is a sad old man hiding behind a curtain, waiting to be exposed. As with all SEOs, they trained in the traditional manner: studying physics, creative writing and education. Like many of the Friends of Dorothy, David's a jack of all trades who is as comfortable with a computer as they are a soldering iron, a hammer, a pencil.
